State Auditor Makes Arrest of Lee County School Employee

April 17, 2012

JACKSON- State Auditor Stacey Pickering announced today the arrest of Randy Thweatt, business manager for the Lee County School District following the execution of a search warrant where property belonging to Lee County School District was seized from private property.

“Our office has worked several cases in the past year involving embezzlement at a local school district,” said State Auditor Stacey Pickering. “It is alleged that Thweatt took a working air conditioner unit and had school district employees install it at a mobile home he owned in Starkville. In addition, our records show that a truck purchased by the school district recently had the title transferred in to Randy Thweatt’s name on February 16, 2012.”

Thweatt, 50, was arrested at the Lee County School District office. The air conditioning unit was seized at the mobile home in Oktibbeha County earlier today, and the vehicle was seized in Lee County. All property belonging to Lee County School District will be returned.
