JACKSON- Following an investigation by the State Auditor’s Office, Terry Lynn Watkins, Lincoln County Circuit Clerk, has been indicted for allegedly misusing and embezzling public funds.

Since 2004, Watkins allegedly embezzled over $131,000.00 in public funds from the Lincoln County Circuit Clerk’s Office.

“Ms. Watkins accomplished her embezzlement scheme by transferring funds to which she was not entitled into her Operating Account for personal use,” said State Auditor Stacey Pickering. “I appreciate the efforts of District Attorney Dewitt Bates in working with the Office of the State Auditor on this investigation.”

Watkins was arrested on November 2, 2010, and was released on her own recognizance.
