Former Tishomingo County Employee Indicted on Five Counts of Embezzlement

JACKSON- State Auditor Stacey Pickering announced that former Tishomingo County employee Norma Lomenick was indicted by the Grand Jury on five counts of embezzlement earlier this month.

An informal demand was issued May 6, 2008 and Lomenick paid the full amount of $31,629.17 to the State Auditor’s Clearing Account in June 2008.

After issuing the demand, investigators with the State Auditor’s Office prepared the case file and presented it to the district attorney. The case was brought before the Tishomingo Grand Jury in November 2008 where Lomenick was indicted on five counts of embezzlement.

“The investigation looked at funds embezzled from January 2001 through September 2003,” said State Auditor Stacey Pickering. “I am very appreciative of the work by the State Auditor’s Office in this case and appreciate the efforts of District Attorney John Young, representing 1st Judicial District in presenting this case.”

Lomenick is a former employee of the Tishomingo County Chancery Clerk’s Office. Following her arrest, she was released on a $10,000 bond. Total funds embezzled were $15,032.12 and interest was $8,352.49. In addition, the amount demanded included $8,244.56 for investigative costs incurred by the State Auditor’s Office bringing the total of the demand to $31,629.17.
