JACKSON- Fabian Maricle was arrested on Wednesday, May 5, following an indictment for embezzlement by the Alcorn County Grand Jury.

Maricle, 36, was the interim office manager and administrative clerk at the airport from March 31, 2003 – December 31, 2006. It is alleged that Maricle embezzled funds from the Corinth-Alcorn County Airport by writing checks to himself and falsifying documents to cover up the scheme.

“Fabian Maricle allegedly embezzled $3,128.01 from the Corinth-Alcorn County Airport between September 2006 and November 2006,” said State Auditor Stacey Pickering. “He converted taxpayer dollars for his personal use, and this type of behavior from public employees will not be tolerated. Adequate internal controls are critical to every organization and business to prevent this type of fraud from occurring.”

Special agents from the State Auditor’s Office began this investigation in 2007. In addition to $3,128.01, the State Auditor’s Office will also attempt recovery of an additional $1,923.64 in investigative costs and $193.68 in interest.
