Stacey Pickering Names Huggins Director of Investigation

JACKSON- David Huggins has been named Director of Investigation in the Office of the State Auditor by newly elected State Auditor Stacey Pickering. Huggins is the former commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

“David has extensive experience in investigation from his work with the Department of Public Safety in the criminal investigations bureau along with over 38 years in law enforcement. He is an integral part of our team, and the taxpayers of Mississippi are fortunate to have him leading the investigations division of the Office of the State Auditor,” said Stacey Pickering.

A native of Corinth, Huggins has worked in law enforcement in Senatobia, Tunica and throughout the Jackson metro area.  He served as the Sergeant-At-Arms of the Mississippi Senate from 2004 to 2008 after serving as Commissioner of Public Safety from 2000 to 2004.

Huggins studied criminal justice at the University of Southern Mississippi and received training at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy and the University of London Advanced Criminalistics Program at Scotland Yard. He also attended the Advanced Homicide Forensic Investigative Workshop through the New York State Police and is a member of numerous professional law enforcement organizations.

Huggins served in the Mississippi National Guard.
