Jackson, Miss –State Auditor Stacey Pickering announces Deltra Young, former Deputy Tax Collector for Tallahatchie County, pled guilty to one count of embezzlement and was sentenced to serve 18 months of supervised probation in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Special Agents from the State Auditor’s Office served Young with a formal demand last February in the amount of $19,486.79.

“My office has already returned the amount of embezzled funds to Tallahatchie County from Ms. Young’s bond,” State Auditor Stacey Pickering said. “I’m pleased the citizens of Tallahatchie County have recouped the money that was embezzled, and we will continue to hold those in public office accountable for their actions.”

Young was the Deputy Tax Collector in Tallahatchie County from 2007 until 2014.
