Q May a municipal tourism commission expend funds to sponsor a local golfer on a professional golf tour for the purpose of advertising, promoting and bringing into favorable notice the opportunities, possibilities and tourism resources of the municipality?

A Yes. The commission must determine, consistent with facts, that such expenditures are for the purpose of carrying out or supporting programs and activities designated by the commission designed to attract tourists or conventions to the municipality and that such determination is reflected on the commissionís minutes.
