Q What assistance may a county provide to a community hospital owned by the county but under lease to a non-profit corporation?

A While the non-profit corporation operating the community hospital is not a public entity, the county still has an interest provided the buildings, grounds and equipment are still owned by the county. For this reason, the lease agreement between the county and the non-profit corporation may provide that the county will retain a certain enumerated amount of financial responsibility to continue to maintain the physical plant, buildings, grounds, equipment, etc. (Attorney Generalís Opinion to Daughdrill dated April 12, 2010)
