Q Do purchases for the county drug court have to be made through the purchasing clerk or may they be made directly by the drug court? Are such purchases subject to the public purchasing laws? Do the answers change, depending on the funding source?

A The youth court would need to have the county purchasing clerk purchase supplies, equipment, or commodities. As a county entity, the youth court is subject to public purchasing laws. Finally, any funds received by the court, whether AOC funds, grants, or other sources, become public funds once received, and are still subject to the purchasing laws.
