Does the tourism commision have the authority to "contract for the furnishing, equipping and operation of facilities necessary or useful in promoting tourism and conventions?"
Q We have a tourism commission, created by a local and private law. The language of the bill gives the commission the authority to “contract for the furnishing, equipping and operation of facilities necessary or useful in promoting tourism and conventions.” Is this limited to buildings operated by the commission, or, for example, may we purchase LED lighting for the convention center?
A The language in your bill is not specifically limited to buildings operated by the commission. If the commission determines that such a project constitutes furnishing, equipping and/or operation of facilities necessary or useful in promoting tourism and conventions in the city, then then this language authorizes it.
