Q Does the word “appointee” in the Code Section regarding appointments to a community hospital board mean that the qualifications must only be met upon appointment or reappointment, and do not constitute an ongoing qualification to hold that appointment?

A Once appointed to an office for a specific term, an appointee is entitled to serve the entire term without being subject to removal, as long as he remains qualified to hold office. If a board member ceases to meet any of the eligibility requirements of the statute, he or she is no longer qualified and must vacate the position.
