Q Our board does not consider it necessary to have an attorney present at our board meetings. I disagree. Is there anything that I, as mayor, can do about this?

A Section 21-15-25 provides discretionary authority for the board to appoint a municipal attorney, subject to the mayorís veto. The mayor may make recommendations to the board and express any concerns, but hiring a municipal attorney requires action by the board of aldermen. (Attorney Generalís Opinion to Pepper, May 29, 2015)
