    Q May a county or municipality provide extra police protection to a private entity and be compensated for doing so?

    A No. A county or municipality has no authority to enter into an agreement to provide certain citizens, businesses or governmental entities greater police protection than others, in return for compensation. (Attorney General’s Opinion to Sorrell dated May 22, 2009)
