May Sheriff Sell Guns

When a sheriff receives a Writ of Execution instructing the sheriff to seize property of a party to a lawsuit and return a certain sum to the court, and the writ specifically includes the seizure of guns, may the sheriff sell the guns at an execution sale without having a federal license?

Yes. A license is only required if you are a gun dealer, a person engaged in the business of selling firearms. (Attorney General's Opinion to Reinmiller dated December 19, 2008)
