May 16, 2008

JACKSON- State Auditor Stacey Pickering announced today that Deberine Ford, clerk at the Clear Creek Golf Club, was indicted on charges of embezzlement of county funds in Warren County.

The Office of the State Auditor received a complaint from Warren County administrator in September 2005 that Ford had not been depositing all cash collected at Clear Creek Golf Club for membership and golf fees.

“Cases of fraud and embezzlement continue to be reported to the State Auditor’s Office resulting in indictments and recovered funds to the taxpayers of Mississippi,” said State Auditor Stacey Pickering. I feel confident the investigation conducted by investigators in the State Auditor’s Office is thorough and complete. The State Auditor’s Office will continue to pursue all cases where there is cause to investigate misuse of taxpayer dollars.”

The indictment was served and processed by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, May 16, 2008.
