State Auditor Issues Demand Against Former DPS Chief of Staff

June 4, 2015

JACKSON- State Auditor Stacey Pickering’s office has issued a demand in the amount of $5,967.42 to former Chief of Staff of the Department of Public Safety (DPS), Gale Mills.

Evidence obtained by the State Auditor’s Office shows Mills used her position to require benefits be paid to her son, also a DPS employee, that he was not entitled to receive.

“This situation is very unfortunate, but this office has and will continue to hold those that misuse, misappropriate, or misdirect taxpayer dollars, accountable for their actions,” State Auditor Stacey Pickering said.
