JACKSON- State Auditor Stacey Pickering announced today that Yvette Yeager, a former employee of the Greenville Parks and Recreation Department, pled guilty to one count of embezzlement.

She will be sentenced next week following the completion of a pre-sentencing report.

Over a five year period from October 2007 through September 2012, Yeager is charged with embezzling $85,155.65 from the City of Greenville. As the Parks Commission Director, Yeager was responsible for receiving and depositing revenue generated by Parks and Recreation. This included Greenville’s public golf course where she recorded approximately 182 fraudulent receipts for cash and checks.

“Ms. Yeager has been issued a civil demand for $115,892.62 that she owes the citizens of Greenville,” Pickering said. “Government employees must understand that if they steal from the taxpayers, the State Auditor’s Office will hold them accountable. I thank District Attorney Dewayne Richardson for bringing this case before the court.”

Yeager had been employed with the Greenville Parks and Recreation Department since 1997.
