Auditor Pickering Meets with American Legion Auxiliary´s Girls State

JACKSON- State Auditor Stacey Pickering met with delegates to the Mississippi American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls State on Thursday, June 12, where he discussed role of the State Auditor in state government.

Girls State elected officials toured the capital city meeting with the statewide elected officials.

State Auditor Pickering presented a plaque to Arlissa Sneed, elected state auditor, recognizing her as an “Honorary State Auditor.”

Girls State delegates learn about the political process and how local and state government function in the fictitious state of Magnolia. Nearly 300 high school junior girls attended this year’s Girls State. Girls State is held on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi and is sponsored by the Mississippi American Legion Auxiliary.
